ECU congratulates Global Corporate Challenge winners
More than ECU 120 staff gathered at the Joondalup Campus this week to celebrate their achievements in the Global Corporate Challenge (GCC).
This annual ‘walk your way around the world’ pedometer challenge asks teams aim to walk more than 10,000 steps a day, encouraging them to improve their fitness over a 16-week period.
The 2011 challenge saw ECU ranked most active University in WA and second most active university globally, with the 385 participants covering at total of 311,000kms – equivalent to walking around the world eight times.
This year the most active team was awarded to the TECHNUTS from the School of Engineering, who averaged an impressive 22,335 steps a day. Most improved team was awarded to ENGEENIOUS – who improved a massive 24% from the halfway mark of the year.
Strategic Financial Analyst Gary Kong was awarded the most active individual, averaging 27,719 steps a day, with Leanna Di Biaisi, from Facilities and Services, awarded the most improved individual.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Kerry Cox presented the winning team with their trophy and prizes, and congratulated all participants on their achievements in making ECU the most active University in Australia.
A full list of the winning team and prizes is as follows:
•Most active team – TECHNUTS. Team members Team Daryoush Habibi, Helen Wu, Gary Kong, Rajesh Ramraj, Steven Richardson, Thair Mahmoud, Ute Mueller received a voucher for lunch or dinner at the Indi Brewery, Mindarie Marina. •Most improved team - EENGENIOUS . Team members Kim Gardiner, John Murray, Kourosh Sheikhzadeh, Sharon Baker, Andrew Baumanis, Whamid Al-Shabib, Clint Ward received a voucher for a team lunch at Degrees Restaurant. •Most active individual - Gary Kong won a $300 voucher from Escape Travel Joondalup •Most improved - Leanna Di Biasi won a 1 hour reflexology treatment from Sole Impressions.
