(Boring But Important)

GENERAL RULES

1. Each team and each team member in the GCC must comply with these rules. Failure to comply with these rules may result in the disqualification of a team or of an individual team member or member at the discretion of GCC management.

2. The GCC is not a race. However, GCC management acknowledges that some teams may want to adopt a 'race-like' approach to the challenge. This is permitted, however, the main construct of the GCC is for participants to be active for the duration of the challenge (16 weeks) and have some fun along the way. The spirit of the event is that it is a 'challenge', a challenge to become more active and educated about your health.

3. Teams will comprise seven members.

4. Each team member will be allocated a username and a password that enables the team member access to the GCC website found at www.gettheworldmoving.com

5. Each team member will be given two pedometers (one as a spare) to record the number of steps taken each day during the GCC. Only one pedometer should be worn at any time.

6. Every 24 hours, each team member must enter the step reading from his/her own pedometer onto the GCC website. If you do not have Internet access (i.e. on weekends) or you forget, you can enter your steps when next online by using the Step Entry function to backdate and enter the appropriate total/s on the appropriate date/s.

7. At the commencement of a new day during the GCC & once steps have been entered for yesterday, the team member must reset the pedometer to 00000 so that a new step count can be recorded for the next 24 hour period.

8. Each team members' step count will be added to the team's total and then plotted on a graph. The distance tracked and current virtual location of the team on the GCC map is displayed.

9. If a participant enters a high step count, they will be issued with a "Speeding Ticket" and advised to give a brief explanation of how this was achieved. "Speeding Tickets" are validated by GCC every 24 hours on weekdays. Any Speeding Tickets received over the weekend will be validated on the Monday. If your explanation is approved these steps will be then added to your total after this time. "Speeding Tickets" are not a punishment, but a way in which the GCC can keep an eye on any mistakes & accidental entries.

10. Official default team names will comprise the name of each team member's employer organisation, followed by a number to be allocated by GCC management. Participants have the ability to enter a personalised name for their team on the GCC Site.

11. Only official GCC pedometers may be used during the GCC.

12. Each team will be allowed only two Athletes. An "Athlete" is a person who is currently training and competing in organised events such as triathlons, and half and full marathons.

13. For teams that have participated in the GCC before, and finished within the Top 10 teams overall or the top team in your organisation the seven team members are required to be in separate teams.

14. If a team of 7 participants does not enter any steps for 1 month or more throughout the GCC, they will be classed as a "dormant team" by GCC and will be removed from the challenge.

GCC JOURNEY

1. The distance between cities in the GCC are approximate only, and have been calculated in direct lineal distances.

2. The GCC 2010 commences on Thursday May 20, 2010 at 12:01am in your team's registered time zone and concludes on Tuesday September 7, 2010 at 11:59pm in your team's registered time zone. Participants have until 11.59pm Friday September 10, 2010 to enter their final step entry. After this time, the website will be locked and no further entries will be accepted. Final results will be announced on Tuesday September 14, 2010 and will be posted on the GCC website.

TEAM RULES AND CHANGES

1. If a team member withdraws from the GCC (by reason of cessation of employment with the employer company, or if the original team member takes long service leave, or if a team member takes 10 or more consecutive days sick leave from his/her employment only) then another employee from within the same employer company, who has not already been registered in the GCC event, may apply to replace the withdrawing team member.

2. The application to replace a team member must be made to, and approved by the team captain, who has access to make the replacement.

3. The new team member will assume the withdrawing team members' recorded step- count for the GCC.

4. If an Athlete withdraws from a team, then another Athlete may apply to replace the withdrawing Athlete in the team. An Athlete cannot replace a team member who is not an Athlete.

5. If a team member is unable to participate for one or more days in the GCC through illness or injury, but has not withdrawn, then that team member will be allocated their average from the day that they last made an entry, minus 10%. In order to have the steps allocated the team member must select the relevant allowance in the Step Entry section.

PEDOMETER USE

1. Every participant must use the official pedometer selected by GCC management.

2. Only one pedometer can be worn at any one time.

3. Participants may not share a pedometer with another person or an animal.

4. The Pedometer may be worn at all times during the day and night, every day of the year.

5. The Pedometer must be connected to the belt or waistband of the participant's clothing only, on the hip, to ensure the most accurate reading possible.

6. To RESET your pedometer hold down the RESET button until the display screen clears to 00000.

CHEATING AND DISQUALIFICATION

1. If GCC Management determines (in its sole discretion) that a participant has engaged in cheating or is otherwise in breach of these rules, that participant will be disqualified from the GCC, and the team will be penalised accordingly.

2. If GCC Management determines (in its sole discretion) that two or more members from the same team have engaged in cheating, then each team member and the team will be disqualified from the GCC and formal notification sent to the employer company's CEO (or equivalent).

3. "Cheating" is defined as:
• Entering incorrect step counts into the GCC website.
• Shaking the pedometer manually to accumulate steps.
• Putting the pedometer on someone else to benefit a participant's step count.
• Having more than 2 Athletes (or persons reasonably considered to be Athletes) in a team at any time during the GCC.
• Strapping the pedometer to another moving object. (See the first dot point)
• Resetting another participant's pedometer without the consent of the other participant.
• Sabotaging another participant's pedometer (including hiding, damaging or destroying it).
• Accumulating steps on one's pedometer by means other than wearing that participant's pedometer and undertaking physical activity.

4. If you are participating in sports such as cricket, baseball, netball, tennis, basketball etc, where you can wear your pedometer then this is highly encouraged. Sports like snow/water skiing cannot record steps on your pedometer. In this instance, you cannot approximate how many steps it would have taken you to complete these activities. This is cheating. If your steps cannot be recorded by wearing a pedometer then they do not count.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

1. The first team (of seven people) to complete the course in the least amount of time within the designated time period (Thursday May 20, 2010 – Tuesday September 7, 2010) will be awarded the Most Active Team in the GCC 2010.

2. If more than one team finishes the course on the same event day, the team who entered in their steps first and cross the finish line first to complete the course on that day, will be awarded the title of Most Active Team in the GCC 2010. The leader board will be updated after 24 hours (this is required so that all time zones are considered before the winner is decided).

3. In the event that no team completes the course during the GCC, the team that has travelled the furthest distance by the final day of the GCC will be the Most Active Team.

4. In the event of a tie in the distance travelled during the GCC, then the GCC title will be shared.

5. In all cases, the decision of the GCC Management will be final.

PUBLICITY

1. By participating in the GCC, each participant and each employer company confers upon GCC Management the right to publish weekly reports, media updates and publicise the progress of the GCC. This includes team names, progress, statistics and general information of the GCC including uploaded stories and images from the GCC website.
