In 2010, the Global Corporate Challenge® will not only continue to make an unprecedented impact upon the health and wellbeing of the corporate world, but the GCC will also improve the lives of thousands of school children through a new and very exciting pilot program that will be run.
We are proud to announce the establishment of the Global Children's Challenge™ - a health initiative to get children from all over the world active, and instil in them the habit of exercise, every day, for the rest of their lives.
Based on the principles of the GCC and reaching out to children early in their development, the Children's Challenge will engage school children at a classroom level, measure step counts from a pedometer and interact with a web based "virtual" walk around the globe. Driven by teachers, the event will have more of a factual discovery focus, allowing kids to learn about other countries, towns, cities, and day-to-day lives of similar aged children in different cultures. The website features engaging content and reference material appealing directly to this age group's popular culture, and a tone of language that is both fun and appropriate.
The Global Children's Challenge™ will play a critical role in our children's future by encouraging healthy active habits, and presenting exercise as fun, stimulating and worthwhile. So in 2010, for every participant an organisation enrolls in the GCC, a child in the community will be enrolled in the Global Children's Challenge™ at no cost to the school, child, government or parents.
